Strathcona Green Zone Resource Park

Build Event

Location: 1245 East Hastings Street, Vancouver, BC (Map)
Date: August 10 and 11 – 9am-5pm

Project Description

SHEDS: HELP US BUILD THE DOWNTOWN EASTSIDE’S NEW WASTE DIVERSION AND FOOD PRODUCTION FACILITY

Come help us build The Strathcona Green Resource Park!

The Strathcona Business Improvement Association has undertaken an innovative pilot program designed to divert as much waste as possible from our landfills. To meet this goal volunteers will transform a vacant parking lot into an urban ecosystem of waste diversion and food production that will consist of: an urban farm; a holding area for reusable materials; and an innovative composting system that will divert food waste from local restaurants and a public mini-park!

With the farm portion nearing completion; our next goal will be to complete the sheds to house recycling, reusing and composting portions of the project, so next Friday and Saturday, August 10-11th, we are organizing another volunteer build event to assemble and install the 8 cedar sheds.

Pacific Heights Playground

Build Event

Location: 1035 Pacific Avenue, Vancouver, BC (Map) – Pacific Heights Housing Co-Op
Date: August 11 – 9am-4pm

Project Description

Help Us Build A New Playground For Kids At The Pacific Heights Co-Op!

For the past three years Projects In Place has helped design and build many innovative projects that have helped to improve lives, green neighbourhoods and provide economic opportunity throughout Vancouver. Today we are happy to announce another volunteer build project!

*We have enough volunteers for this build. If available, please consider helping with Strathcona Green Zone Resource Park above. Thanks!

The Co-Op’s playground was in disrepair. Our designers spent several months working with residents to design a playground based on the theme of water, play and art. Come help us build a small pocket playground that will consist of a water feature, a play berm, art sticks, benches, planters and native plants!
