[...] Landscape architects are generally pretty busy folks. But Bryce Gauthier of Sharp and Diamond Landscape Architecture has made the time to co-found an organization called Projects in Place – a volunteer-run non-profit society that brings construction professionals together with the general public to design and implement projects that benefit their community. In the summer of 2011, the Pacific Heights Housing Co-operative approached Projects in Place to bring new life to their existing playground and make it more inviting. For seating, benches were constructed and installed on the perimeter. The red cedar boards were painted in Navy Blue, Pavestone Red and Savannah, using BRODA ® PRO-TEK-TOR. Our water-borne oil-based stain that was friendly to both the environment and the kids, who also assisted with the painting. Hats off to Bryce and the Project in Place team for exemplifying the highest community values of their profession. For more on this great project, and the good works of the Project in Place Society, check out their website here. [...]

Last week I had the opportunity to help build a playground at Pacific Housing Co-op in Vancouver. I could only stick around for the morning shift, but it was great to get involved with some awesome people and for an awesome cause! Check out the pictures... Hope to work with Projects in Place again in the near future!
